Hi there! Welcome to the blog! Thank you so much for stopping by; I’m so glad you came. I hope you’ll find some content that you really enjoy and find helpful to making your life as an in-home daycare provider, parent, or teacher (whatever your awesome role) much easier. My name is Missy and I’m a mom and a family childcare provider.

I have been an in-home family childcare provider for more than 10 years (and I love it) I’ve been working in childcare since I was in high school and absolutely fell in love with it. I have been a toddler teacher and the director of a children’s ministry. I’m also a teacher’s daughter so I’ve always enjoyed being in a classroom. One of the reasons I decided that having my own in-home daycare would be a good fit was that it allowed me to have a classroom and a business. I could also be more hands-on in a smaller group while enjoying a variety of hobbies (cooking, music, and learning new things) in addition to administrative work. The second and best benefit I found was being able to be a single stay at home mom and make a full-time income. I was able to spend time with my children while meeting new people and being able to shape the lives of some of the sweetest and amazing children I have ever met. To this day one of my past clients is still one of my two very best friends. What could be more awesome sauce then that my friend?!

So why did I start this blog?

Well, that’s simple, it’s the same reason I became a provider.

Here’s a cliff notes version:

What led me to find that becoming a provider was a good idea for me was that I was a single parent and I needed a way to make a good income. I was the only parent my son had, and I didn’t want to leave him to make money. So, I tried a bunch of work at home jobs that didn’t work, didn’t pay, or were a scam. I would work part-time jobs but the amount of money that I would be making I would be spending most of it on daycare cost. In my anguish, I decided there had to be a better way. So, I started researching family childcare because I knew a provider that was doing well for herself and she really enjoyed her job! From there I was able to start my own daycare which ended up morphing into a preschool and I absolutely loved it. I got to love what I was doing every day! I loved meeting new families, I loved meeting new kiddos, I loved cooking, I loved playing with toys and gadgets, I loved shopping, and I loved to create new lesson plans. But what I loved most was helping others and that’s why I’m here. I want to help you shape your days so that you are enjoying life’s most awesome natural resource (kids).

I would not have been able to grow as a provider without the help of others and so I want to be that helpful for you. I want to hear your voice and hear about the things that you know and the things that you’re learning along the way because that’s what helps us all. I want to help you make your job easier. If you would like to start your own in-home daycare or preschool I would love to help you set that up. That way you can make more money quicker with less frustration and fewer bumps in the road. I want to share with you what I’ve learned what to do and what not to do when starting an in-home daycare business. Being a child care provider, preschool teacher, and/or stay at home mom is an amazing job that sometimes seems like it never ends but it is worth every minute. I would love to be there for you as you laugh, play, and watch your little people grow in the most amazing ways. I would love to hear from you so if you have questions or comments please feel free to comment or email me at missy@plainlypreschool.com.
